Volunteering

What will I gain?
Volunteering can be a great way to meet like-minded people who share the same enthusiasm as you for good food and a healthy planet.
Being a volunteer will also be an interesting way of getting to know about how we work and at the same time learn new skills and gain valuable experience.

Strengthen your CV
Volunteering with us can help you to get a foot on the career ladder or help you to get back to work after a career break.

Volunteering award
Our volunteering award recognises Soil Association volunteers who have made a difference, been an inspiration to others and have showed a real commitment to the cause.

How do I get involved?
We'd love to hear from you but can't promise a volunteer post. Some times are busier than others like during the Soil Association Organic Fortnight. We may need to call you at short notice, so the more local you are the better.

Our volunteering opportunities are advertised on our website. Bookmark this page and keep an eye out for opportunities that interest you.

Work placements and internships
We are in the process of setting up schemes. Please be patient.

Equal Opportunities
The Soil Association supports the principle of equal opportunities in employment.

Volunteering Opportunities:

Soil Association Scotland's Organic Food Festival
19-21 September, Glasgow

For a third year, the highlight of Scotland's organic calendar is returning to Glasgow's Merchant City. We are looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic, well organised, and who enjoy meeting new people, to help staff the event.

We need event stewards, and people willing to help support exhibitors, assist our celeb chefs, staff the box office for our special events programme, and help with festival promotion. If you have relevant experience, that's a bonus, but it's not necessary.

The festival promises to be a blast. At the Old Fruitmarket there'll be a magical marketplace full to the brim with gorgeous organic and wild harvested goodies. Next door, at the Ramshorn Theatre, there'll be organic fashion and textiles, health and beauty, ethical homeware, and an organic café run by The 78.

The packed programme of cookery demos, talks, debate, and tutored tastings will feature Gardeners' World presenter and celebrated chef Sarah Raven; and Kaye Adams of Loose Women fame. Our Kidszone will feature a farm frieze art competition, food themed face painting, and a fabulous smoothie bike.

If you'd like to get involved, please email your name and contact details to ssienche@soilassociation.org, or call 0131 666 2474 and ask for Sandrine.
